A Letter to God
Writing a letter to God. Have you ever heard of doing this? I had not, let alone consider the actual attempt at completing such an overwhelming task. One of my devotionals recommended this as part of a way to connect and remain dedicated to God daily. The recommendation was not only to write a letter to God but to write it every day! I thought, there are a lot of things for me to do in a day and I can hardly keep up as it is! This is recommending another time and energy consuming task! Ugh! I thought about the other recommendations, which seemed far more intriguing and “do-able”. I really liked the idea of those suggestions as some I was already working on anyway. But that was, of course, not my path.
Have you ever looked at a suggestion and thought, “um, no!” only to realize this was in fact the correct path? It is the moment of smacking your forehead with your palm and then proceeding to shake your head!
I feel like it is one of God’s messages to me. I have been struggling with my writing for a while, but he keeps chiming in suggestions and recommendations, leading me to different, helpful strategies and ways to start up some writing. Then it hit me! God’s message is to visualize I am writing him letters as I complete my writing that is meant for his glory anyway!
The more I listen, the more I hear.
It never fails, what I am supposed to hear comes to me in some way. I do not always listen, pay attention, or acknowledge the leadership in the moment… but it is there.
I used to say that everyone tells you who they are; you are only required to listen, truly listen to what and how they tell you what you want to know. But the truth is, that God will tell you what you need to know or hear at just the right moment. Are you listening?
